The launch of the iPhone 14 is earlier than anticipated.

We already knew the iPhone 14 was coming, but it now seems to be coming sonner than expected: the launch date for the device will be September 7 instead of October as most analysts had projected. It's the day following Labor Day in the US, and as compared to prior years, it means Apple will be able to record an extra week of pre-orders during September.

Bloomberg reports that although the event will be broadcast online, Apple is likely to display it to invited guests and the press at its Apple Park headquarters, as it did for WWDC 2022 earlier this year.Pre-orders will go on sale following the presentation, and the iPhone 14 will ship to pre-order consumers a week after it hits shops.

The earlier iPhone release date was also done so that Apple could have a second event in October to introduce new iPads and MacBook Pros.

The iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max are scheduled to launch on September 7. Despite some rumours suggesting otherwise, it's possible that an older iPhone model may take the place of the iPhone 11, which is currently the entry-level device.

Apple Watch Series 8 and the iPhone 14 will both be released on the same day, and we should also receive iOS 16 and watchOS 9 at that time, but not iPad OS 16 or macOS Ventura. They will most likely arrive one month later with an M2 iPad Pro and an entry-level iPad with USB-C. The Mac mini, Mac Pro, and MacBook Pro models may also be M2-based, however it's possible that these will arrive later.

If the timelines stated in the reports are accurate, Apple should begin delivering launch invitations for the iPhone 14 to its media contacts the following week.
